1. I haven't exercised in, like, a week. But packing counts... right?
2. I've eaten my weight in cheese this week, and it's only Wednesday. I'm not exactly sticking to the very sensible "eat everything we already have" plan. Tacos from down the street are just SO MUCH easier (not to mention far more delicious).
3. I may have experienced mild panic attack Monday night. Nbd.
4. We're moving! Yay!
5. We're moving! FUCK ME RUNNING.
6. Moving's expensive.
7. I keep finding those really disgusting bird-like mosquito bug things in the house. They fly around like crazed maniacs and smack me in the face. Fucking terrifying.
8. I love my in-laws. They're helping us this weekend. They also helped us move in here so we could live in sin before the wedding. At the time, my mother in law didn't realize that was what was happening. I love her.
9. We have too much stuff. Want some of it?
10. I saw this post on Shiny Squirrel - are little boy suits a thing now? God I hope not. Also, it kinda looks like the last guy is sporting a semi... which is gross.
11. I went to the dentist on Monday. My teeth are delightfully clean.
12. (I'm not blogging to avoid packing. No really.)
13. (OK, maybe I am.)

I thought I'd take a break from packing up the house to share a few images from our adventures in San Antonio last weekend. It was a nice little vacation for three days, and we were able to visit my parents, which is a rarity (although we live only 3 hours away).
N had never seen the Missions, so we went to see San Jose and Concepcion. Truth be told, I hadn't been since I was in elementary school, so it was nice to re-learn a bit of our history.
The rest of the weekend was spent just hanging around the house and eating. A lot. Delicious empanadas at Beto's, a FANTASTIC portobello burger at Big'Z, beers + live music at Tycoon Flats. Oh, and pedicures with my Alzheimer's-riddled grandmother, which was so much fun.
Lola had a great time running around my parents' ginormous back yard. She's a bit of a mountain goat.
I hope all of your weekends are going well.
N and I spent a bit of time packing yesterday and then we went to a going-away barbecue (where we drank WAY TOO MUCH). This morning N left to help his family in the Houston area, so I'm all aloney on my owny to pack up a bunch of stuff (and eat lots of breakfast tacos to cure the hangover...oy). On the list: everything. Even plates and whatnot (hurrah paper plates! not). This moving stuff is crazy - we've been here for over 2 years and good lord we have so much crap. But we're making progress, which is what counts.
This coming week is my last at work - so.weird. I've been working since I was 13. Quitting my job for the unknown is beyond insane. I'm crazy nervous and more than a little apprehensive, and my OCD is in overdrive trying to make sure that everyone knows EVERYTHING that I do and has every little scrap of paper that could potentially be important, which is, you know, like everything.
So yeah. Posting will probably be even lighter than usual the next week, but will pick up when we get where we're going.
Have a great week!

Saturday we got a late start. Coffee and whatnot in the morning, tacos and driving around in the afternoon. We spent most of the day combing Austin neighborhoods for "For Rent" signs in the hopes that something completely epic and cheap would fall into our laps. No such luck. At least there was El Chilito and more coffee to make us un-grumpy.
Sunday was more driving. And more tacos. This time: Torchy's. Verdict: meh. I went for the potato taco and a migas taco, both of which were just fine. Their queso, however, was AMAZEBALLS.
Also eaten: P.Terry's Burgers, home of the most amazing veggie burger known to man (until I find the next one). SO GOOD. Didn't get a picture, as I scarfed it pretty damn quick.

N and I have made a very difficult decision.
After months of unhappiness, anxiety, and searching for employment in places far, far away, we have come to a conclusion and have decided to move to Austin.
To be quite honest, I am beyond thrilled. It’s not ideal – my first choice would be anywhere out of the country, or even somewhere far from here with a completely different climate… you know, somewhere with *winter*. However, as far as cultures go, Austin fits the bill.
You see, I’ve been unhappy for a long time. We currently live where we went to college, and since I’m being all honest and shit, it was an impulsive decision (for me) to even go to school at this university. I didn’t even consider going out of state, which, given my personality and constant affliction with wanderlust, is surprising. I’ve been here 9 years; N has been here for almost 10. I’m done.
N and I currently live in a stiflingly conservative area, where city growth goes unchecked, residents water their lawns at 5 pm in 110* heat, and the Ford F350 is ubiquitous. Waste is a way of life, and rhetoric is heated and driven by “faith”. I’m a firm believer that a place has a profound effect on one’s sense of self, and this place does not encourage me to be my best.
Austin suits us. I grew up not far from there and have always felt an affinity for the mix of conservative and liberal, old and new, cattle ranching and veganism, and accessibility to the creativity of the collective. It seems a place of forces in balance.
So we’re moving on. We’ve spoken with friends and family, we’ve begun searching for ways to pay the bills. So please keep us in your thoughts as we make this journey into the unknown. It’s going to be terrifying, but hopefully it’ll give us the boost we’ve so badly needed.
xo.
